Who am I and why am I doing this?

My name is Camille. I’m from Chicagoland, I have a beloved cat who holds the rank of Group Captain over her minions, and I never met a pretzel I didn’t like.

I started this project 2012, when there were just 575 films in the Registry. It was a way to give myself purpose and distract myself from the deep and murky demitasse of depresso espresso in which I was swimming. Shortly after I started, life threw me a major curveball (hello, ovarian cancer), and this project got put on the back burner. Well, here we are, thirteen years later, and I find myself in need of purpose once again. Why not return to something that brought me meaning and joy? So that’s what I’m doing!

The National Film Registry is maintained by the United States Library of Congress, comprising a list of films considered to be culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant. The Registry adds new films each year, so I have a LOT of catching up to do (the list now reaches 900!).

So click around if you want to learn more about American movies of every era and genre.

Or just if you’re bored. IDK. You do you.
